WGC Match Play

This will be our first time volunteering at the WGC Match Play, which is also called WGC Cadillac Match Play, at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, CA. It is the 2nd of the annual WGC golf tournaments. Consult the WGC Match Play Volunteer Committee Descriptions for all the volunteer committees available for you to participate in. We also have details about the volunteer package (including uniform, tickets, etc.). The next WGC will be held from April 27 till May 3, 2015. At the bottom of this page, you will find a link to the 'official' tournament's volunteer website, where you can register to volunteer. Check out the latest updates towards the bottom on this page. 2015 WGC Cadillac Match Play

The 2015 WGC Cadillac Match Play will be held from April 27 - May 3, 2015 at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, CA.

WGC Match Play Volunteer Committee Descriptions

      • Administrative/Office Support

         – Assist PGA TOUR staff with general office duties prior to and throughout Championship Week. Duties include answering telephones, taking ticket orders, preparing mailings, maintaining the front office and greeting office guests.

        Committee Days: Volunteers needed beginning in March.

      • Admissions/Ambassadors

         – Act as a welcoming team for spectators. Greet and help direct spectators in various locations on and off course. Scan tickets using Ticketmaster equipment at each entrance. Assist in selling spectator guides.

      • Corporate Hospitality

         – Host corporate sponsors in hospitality areas by checking patrons for proper credentials, meeting and greeting guests and provide Championship information. Check hospitality venues each morning and report any issues to Committee Chairman (i.e. cleaning, televisions, AC)

      • Disabled Guest Services

         – Provide cart transportation for disabled spectators to and from the bus drop at the main entrance and disabled parking to designated areas on the golf course.

      • Evacuation

         – Assist in preparation and execution of evacuation during extenuating circumstances (i.e. inclement weather, matches which do not finish on hole 1 or 18, etc.) Volunteers must be at least 21 years old.

      • Golf Carts

         – Responsible for cart set-up and distribution prior to and during Championship Week. Committee also ensures carts are returned and charged at the end of each day.

      • Golf Events

         – Assist with set-up, tear-down, registration, operations and event logistics for the following events: Pairings Party (Evening of Friday, May 1), Official Pro-Am (Saturday, May 2), Am-Am (Monday, May 5 and Tuesday, May 6). Pairings Party and Official Pro-Am will be held offsite. Volunteers are required to work 3 of the 4 days listed.

      • Lasers/Shot Link

         – Operate tripod mounted lasers at greenside tower locations and designated landing areas. The statistical data collected is downloaded to ShotLink.com. Training is provided by the PGA TOUR. Additional information can be found at ShotLink.com.

      • Marshalls

         – Responsible for crowd management, gallery noise control and player movement. Marshals are expected to work FULL DAYS throughout the Championship Week.

      • Media Center

         – In conjunction with the PGA TOUR media representatives, oversee general operation of media center including media registration. Assist with special media needs during Championship Week.

      • Mobile Devices (by invitation only)

         – Monitor fan usage of mobile devices on course and enforce mobile device policy during Championship Week. Encourage fans to utilize approved cell phone zones, prevent photography during competition rounds, educate public of silent mode requirement and confiscate mobile devices when necessary.

      • Player/VIP Transportation

         – Inventory and inspect vehicles allotted to Championship and track cars assigned to players and VIP’s. Courtesy car drivers will transport players and VIP’s to and from TPC Harding Park, Host Hotels, San Francisco International Airport and/or other destinations before, during, and after the Championship. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old.

      • Special Events

         – Assist with the coordination, set-up, tear-down, registration and operations for all special events prior to and during tournament week. Events include but are not limited to: Media Day, Volunteer Appreciation Party, Military Appreciation Ceremony, Trophy Tour, Music after Play and others TBD.

      • Supply Distribution

         – Distribute spectator guides and pairing sheets, incoming packages from FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc. and other goods to various locations throughout the course. Handle distribution of water to volunteers as well as distribute on course refreshments for players and staff. HEAVY LIFTING REQUIRED.

      • Volunteer Headquarters

         – Responsible for the operation and management of Volunteer Headquarters during Championship Week, an area for the exclusive use of credentialed and working volunteers. Volunteers will assist in selling merchandise and volunteer check-in.

      • Volunteer Pool

         – Available “on call” to help out wherever needed; be on-site during tournament week to assist any committee that requests extra help at the last minute due to volunteers not showing up for their shift or simply being busier than expected.

      • Will Call

         – Work in conjunction with PGA TOUR staff in operating an off course ticket sales office along with a pick-up and drop-off location for last-minute ticket requests.

  • 4/8/2015: Volunteer Parking
    Volunteer Parking will be in Lot-8 (Ocean Beach). Lot-8 is located near the intersection of Lincoln Way and Great Hwy (see map). Shuttles will transport volunteers to the volunteer headquarters (Boathouse) at TPC Harding Park.
    Shuttles hours will start in the morning as follows:
    Monday April 27 - 6:00 AM
    Tuesday April 28 - 5:00 AM
    Wednesday April 29 - 6:30 AM
    Thursday April 30 - 6:30 AM

  • 2/10/2015: Volunteer for Media Day
    The tournament is looking for 2 volunteers to help out on Monday, 2/16/2015 at TPC Harding Park from 10:30am until 4pm. You will assist in monitoring the hole-in-one competition. If interested, contact us!

WGC Match Play Volunteer Package

The 2015 WGC Cadillac Match Play Volunteer Package contains the following items:
